Yesterday, my friend, Zack Melikian, told me of a great quote by Arnold Schwarzenegger: “The more you do, the more you get done.” Now, I don’t know if Arnold actually said that or not (I searched and could not find evidence), but let’s go ahead and give the greatest bodybuilder of all time (no offense, Ronnie Coleman) credit for this intriguing, Yogi Berra-like quote.
The more you do, the more you get done.
– Arnold Schwarzenegger?
It seems so simple and so obvious, but this simplicity is what leads us to an action-oriented mindset. A mindset that craves activity, accomplishment, and achievement.
Before we go any further, I know what you are thinking, “What is the difference between accomplishment and achievement?”
First, an accomplishment is completing a simple or complex task, while an achievement is attaining a goal, whether is it a passing test, earning a degree, or getting a promotion.
Second, accomplishments are typically externally focused, while achievements are internally motivating.
Ok, enough with the semantics (I’ll write more on that thought in a future article), let’s get to the point: feeling fulfilled with our daily actions.
It’s just so easy to stay in your cozy space at work, continuing on with what you did yesterday and the day before and the day before that. But is that what you really want? Dull, monotonous, boring, empty routine?
Really?
I suspect you want more out of life than the same old same old. You want to push yourself to greater things. You want to see just how far you can go. You want to know if there is more inside of you waiting to be set free.
So, what are you going to do about it?
- Are you going to decide to be more curious?
- Are you going to decide to be more adventurous?
- Are you going to decide to be more creative?
- Are you going to decide to be more thoughtful?
- Are you going to decide to be more understanding?
- Are you going to decide to be more active?
There are so many ways to break out of your comfort zone. The hard part is taking that first step.
One of the smartest ways to get moving and begin seeing farther, feeling deeper, and doing more is to hire a coach.
A coach is there to ask thought-provoking questions that make you consider (or reconsider) things you’ve either forgotten, repressed, or taken for granted. A coach is there to support you in your new discoveries to make smart plans and stick to them. A coach is there to cheer you on as you envision your biggest dreams, reach your highest energy, and feel complete fulfillment at work and in life.
C’mon, people!
Get uncomfortable with being comfortable.
Decide to do more, be more, feel more, and express your inner greatness!
Your Mindful Moment:
Focus your activities to accomplish what you currently need to achieve what you really want!
